President Muhammadu Buhari has been accused of reacting too late to the violence in the southern part of Kaduna state.
The accusation against Buhari came after the president gave ordered that
decisive measures be taken to end the recurring killings in southern
Kaduna, an action that some Nigerians described as medicine after death.
Recall that the presidency had earlier explained
that Buhari was silent on the ongoing violence in southern part of
Kaduna state because the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is handling the
issue.
The killings in southern Kaduna are suspected to be due to violence between the locals and migrating Fulani herdsmen.
Buhari’s
silence over the issue has fueled suggestion from some religious and
political leaders that the president and Governor Nasir El-Rufai who are
of the Fulani tribe, are siding with the attackers. But
after the president called for decisive action to be taking over the
issue, some social media commentators accused Buhari of responding after
his the killings had escalated.
Read what some Nigerians are saying about the issue below:
Prince Bello Omeiza Stephen: "Is Mr president,
Muhammedu Buhari waiting for all villagers to be killed by herdsmen in
southern Kaduna before he react?s If no, why didn't he react quickly
before now. If yes what joy is he deriving from it?"
Daudu Christopher:
I said it earlier that this fulani herdsmen is a terrorist group and
it's more dangerous than Boko Haram. Any state governor who really loves
his people will not allow this deadly group to settle in his state.
It's the responsibility of our governors to resist this group with all
available means. Given the unbearable security situation we found
ourselves today in this country, we will be forced to employ
irregularity to correct the irregularities. It's a matter of time."
Iyke Ololo: "Is this the intention of having
grazing reserve in all the state of the federation so that the natives
will be massacred by herdsmen knowing fully well that the host
communities have nothing in common with the herdsmen by the time
everybody is armed the nation will become ungovernable then we will ask
ourselves what went wrong."
Joseph Ugbameta: "Mr
president your order is late and watery after your people has completed
their mission the only injection that can put an end to this calamity-
restructuring the country."
Nwafor Ndubueze Vincent: "What kind of strong action would that be? After over 800 lives were lost. That's rubbish you know."
Anthony Ijikweonu: "After
they has finished of killing humans you react but if it's matter of
cows nd cattles u response quickly by sending ur terror squads God will
soon answer the prayers of the poor."
Monday Wilson went as far as suggesting that if Buhari's children were involved, he would have reacted to the issue swiftly.
He said: "Assuming her daughter Zahra
was involve in the dead, sure federal government would have declared
curfew wright from day one when the insurgent happen, beside troupes of
army and heavy security guard would ve been sent there immediately, and
those involve in the barbaric act would have been caught forthwith.
"Hmmmmmm
my take is that let our president as our leader do unto others what he
wished others 2do unto him (mathew 7:12) bcus the primary aim of any
Government is security of lives and property which this Government seems
to have neglected in the killing of Christian in Southern Kaduna"
another group of commentators rained abuses on the president over the issue.
Ayobolu Adefemi Kokumo: "Useless
president , you are now responding after the evil deed had been done by
your Fulani tribe. The duty of good president is to secure life and
property of it's citizens which you failed to do. God will punish all
those that contributed to killing in southern Kaduna."
Sunday Ishaku: "You
thought we are all going to die abi? Useless president, you are now
responding after the evil deed had been done by your fulani herdsmen,
God is watching"
Others suggested that the president's slow response was as a result of an ear infection:
Kufre Wilson: "Now
people should learn to tell any candidate that would come up in 2019 to
go through series of medical test before contesting ... then publish
the result on the media for people to know how fit the candidate is! Ear
problem is a baaaaad sickness! Imagine it's now that He hears what has
happened 3 weeks ago. I can still remember my late great grand father
that had this kind of problem, even if the whole community run he is
still not aware of what is happening."
Arinze Umeh: "You people should not blame the old because he has ear problem , he only react when he get sine. kudos to you sir."
Caroline Monday: "Did you just wake up
from ur sick sleep Mr Buhari.... It's a disgrace for such a big country
to have u as it's president. Continue sleeping till u never wake again
and there will be peace and celebration everywhere."
On her part, Onwordi Amaka described the ongoing violence in southern Kaduna as a plot by Muslims to Islamize Nigeria.
She said: "The
truth remains that the aim of these northern Muslims is to islamize
Nigeria but God will not permit them as they have started from the
southern Kaduna to suppress all minority Christians to forfeit their
faith according to their !QU'RAN 8: 39 wage war on non-muslims and kill
them until they submit and the only religion is islam!
"The
only thing I will beg the Christians all over Nigeria is to support
their fellow Christians in southern Kaduna with weapons of war to fight
back for their lives and for their unborn generation."
What
do you think, Is the president to blame for reacting late to the
killings in the southern part of Kaduna or is he doing his best over the
issue?
