Just in: Chelsea fc replies Mikel Obi's emotional farewell

Chelsea football club of England has saluted Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi as he heads to China to continue his round-leather trade.


Mikel Obi had earlier on Friday, January 6, completed moved to Chinese side Tianjin TEDA after spending over 10 years at the English club.

Mikel who became the latest Premier League player to move to China, confirmed the move by publishing a lengthy emotional letter to fans, management and his teammates at Chelsea on his Twitter account today, Friday, January 6.
The 29-year-old joins a growing list of former Chelsea stars who have made big-money moves to China with Oscar recently completing a £52 million transfer to Shanghai SIPG after Brazilian midfielder Ramires made the move to China last season.
Recall that Mikel Obi who spent 11 years at Chelsea had been frozen out of the side since new manager Antonio Conte’s arrival in the summer.

He was linked with moves to st.Inter Milan, Valencia and Marseille before opting for the riches of the Far East.
In his 11 years at Chelsea, Mikel won 11 trophies which include; three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League.

“His finest moment came in 2012 in Munich, when his incredible discipline in midfield protected the defence and helped us to claim our first Champions League triumph.
“Mikel played 372 times for Chelsea, scoring six goals. He leaves with our very best wishes and we thank him for his exceptional service.
